RNAi-whatizit???

RNAi mechanism (http://www.nature.com/horizon/rna/background)
This is what I've been working on for the past 1 week (concentrating my effort at the very last minute).. .I'm so relieve that it is over... ..
"RNA interference (RNAi) is a phenomenon in which the introduction of dsRNA into cell causes degradation of the complementary mRNA. It is a highly conserved mechanism that plays a vital role in antiviral defense mechanism. Plasterk RH, in his review article described RNAi as the 訴mmune system? of the genome. It has been documented as having specificity against foreign elements and the ability to amplify and exert a massive response against an invading nucleic acid. (Plasterk, 2002). Another possible physiological role of RNAi is involvement in chromatin remodeling. Studies in yeast and ciliate, Tetrahymena demonstrated potential roles of RNAi in transcription in the cell nucleus, partly by determining the form of the chromatin in which the DNA is wrapped, which mean that it is capable of regulating which genes being transcribed or remain wrapped."
